Underground tanks
The bigger worry, purely because you cannot see them. A leak underground is a problem with your property before it is a problem with your heating.
If you have one, it is worth considering either a replacement above ground tank or tank protection. Anyone protecting the value of their home should look at this properly rather than hope.
Above ground and basement tanks
These have a limited lifespan and need looking at regularly. Any tank that is weeping, dripping or damp needs attention or replacing.
Proguard has an inexpensive option to protect an above ground tank at home. Call the office and we will talk you through it.
While you are thinking about the tank
Two things that come up on nearly every tank call, and both are cheaper than the thing they prevent.
The whistle. It is how the tank tells the driver there is still room. A tank with no whistle, or a broken one, is a spill waiting to happen and may not meet your town's building code or your insurer's terms. We can repair or fit one.
Clearance on in-ground tanks. If an in-ground tank cannot be measured directly, it cannot be safely filled. Nothing should be built over one without leaving room to measure it.
